My name is Luis Natal Jr, I am a young aspiring artist growing up in central Jersey. As a child art has always been around me. From as young as I can remember art has always been a part of my life. Whether it be drawing cartoon characters from tv or my imagination, or seeing some of my relatives’ artwork. These aspects gave me the motion to become an artist. As I’ve grown up through the years my art has grown with me. I’ve developed my own personal style and learned how to transfer it across different media. This allows me to expand my horizons and show my versatility in art. 

I’ve mainly learned to do art from school, while this is a good base for me, it made me set boundaries of what I can and cannot do. This leads me to being very critical of my work and causes me to feel as though my art isn’t as good as I want it to be. Although as I’ve grown up I am a lot less critical of my work and allow myself to enjoy my art more for me rather than for others. In my spare time, I do work on my art on my own to try out new techniques and styles. This allows me to find new styles and techniques that I enjoy.

In my own art, I mainly focus on drawing figures, while others may find figure drawing very complex, I find it very calming. From what I have learned from drawing figures is that in one pose there can be a lot of emotion. I would also say that I draw more semi-realism rather than full realism as I feel as though I am able to portray more emotion.
